2024 SMUSH Gallery Artist Residency
I have been selected as an Artist in Residence at SMUSH Gallery for the week of July 29th to August 4th 2024.
My residency will feature an exhibit of handwritten poetry revolving around the idea of loss. Loss as Pain. Loss as Grief. Loss as Freedom. Loss as Growth. The week will end in a solo performance of my own music based on the poetry and themes of the exhibit. The music will include formats such as instrumental solos, songs, spoken text with electronics, performance art, and broken record improv (records smashed into smaller pieces and layered on top of each other to create a new song from their broken pieces).
This project is presented as part of SMUSH Gallery’s Summer 2024 Arts Residency Program, with public support from the Jersey City Arts and Culture Trust Fund.
