Bradley Frizzell is a Jersey City based clarinetist and educator specializing in Bb, Eb, and Bass Clarinet. With a passion for performing and a wide range of musical talents, he has made a mark in various musical ensembles and performances.
Most recently, Bradley travelled throughout North America as the clarinetist for The First National Tour of Fiddler on The Roof. He also currently maintains a studio of clarinet students of all ages and abilities, and has previously enjoyed teaching at Woodwinds at Wallowa Lake, Summer Camps at UO, and the Boston Woodwind Studio. Bradley has been the clarinetist and Community Outreach Coordinator for the Black Sheep Contemporary Ensemble since 2017. The group has collaborated with artists across all mediums and performed at renowned venues including The Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, Galatea Fine Art, Boston Sculptors Gallery, and more. Their artistic innovation and community outreach efforts of BSCE were recognized in an article in the Boston Globe. He is a member of various ensembles including Infrasound, a prominent new-music collective based in NYC. The group’s dedication and talent were recognized last year when Infrasound was awarded a Chamber Music America Ensemble Forward Grant. Throughout his career, Bradley has been involved in numerous collaborations and artistic endeavors. He was an artist in residence at SMUSH Gallery in Jersey City, showcasing his talents in composition, clarinet, |
videography, and movement. As a member of the Reciprocity Collaborative, a network of artists run by Ilya Vidrin, he has participated in an artist's residency and performed at prestigious venues such as The MFA in Boston and A R E A Gallery.
Bradley's performing extends beyond chamber music, as he has made significant contributions to various orchestras as a clarinetist. He served as the Principal Clarinetist for Symphony Pro Musica and Dudley Orchestra, and has been a member of Boston Civic Symphony and New Philharmonia Orchestra. He has frequently served as a substitute musician for esteemed orchestras like the Boston Ballet Orchestra, New England Philharmonic, Mercury Orchestra, Longwood Symphony Orchestra, and Brookline Symphony Orchestra.
Bradley studied at The Manhattan School of Music and took part in their Contemporary Performance Program under the guidance of renowned soloist David Krakauer. Prior to that, he earned a Master of Music in Clarinet Performance from The Boston Conservatory, studying with acclaimed soloist and Principal of BMOP, Michael Norsworthy. Bradley's musical education started at the University of Oregon, where he pursued a Bachelor of Music in Music Performance under the tutelage of Jerry Simas, Bass Clarinetist of the San Francisco Symphony, and Lou DeMartino, Principal of the Honolulu Symphony.
